Written Images: Mirrors of the Golden Ages
film series
As a prelude to the exhibition Images of Don Quixote and the film series and supplementary conference, there will be showings of films on literary works dealing with the Golden Age. The works will include masterpieces by writers of the time, among them Quevedo''s Lazarillo and Buscón and El Alcalde de Zalamea by Calderón de la Barca, and works by modern authors, such as El Maestro de esgrima, by Arturo Pérez Reverte. The filters created by the literary-author/film-director duality and the passage of time since the filming of some of these works result in remarkable Baroque-like tehatre of mirrors in which to survey the historical and literary environment of the age of Don Quixote.
