Film Series: Verano Tropical. Instituto Cervantes New York salutes Cinema Tropical

Cinema Tropical, a New York-based media arts organization created in 2001, has been one of the key protagonists in the promotion of Latin American cinema in the U.S. The emergence of this renowned organization has coincided with the unprecedent revitalization of the cinema of the region, which has radically changed how Latin America sees and represents itself in the big screen, as well as fostered an impresive generation of young filmmakers over the past decade.This summer, Instituto Cervantes New York partners with Cinema Tropical to present films from the organization's celebrated film collection, showcasing the diversity of Latin Americcan production over the past few years. "Verano Tropical" will feature eight films from different latin American countries including a wide variety of genres, from ingenious comedies to highly stylized dramas and stirring documentaries.
