A tribure to New Yorker Films

This series pays homage to New Yorker Films on the first anniversary of its return to business after closing down in 2009, celebrating by extension the opening of Mercedes Álvarez's acclaimed documentary The sky turns at Anthology Film Archives (2nd avenue at 2nd street) on February 11. Established in 1965, New Yorker Films distributed many European and Japanese classics from the 1960s and '70s. At the same time, it acquired some landmark films from Spain and Latin America. This series presents 8 works by directors from Argentina, Brazil, Cuba, and Spain.
