Spanish courses for preschoolers

Mis primeras palabras en español (3 to 4 years)

Program description

Mis primeras palabras en español is a Spanish language immersion program designed to meet the creative needs of children (3 to 4 years) from both Spanish-speaking and non-Spanish-speaking backgrounds while they learn the language.

Games, songs, multimedia, and arts & crafts will be used to encourage children to develop their communication skills. The multicultural course will include materials from Spain and Latin America. Special attention will be given to pre-reading and pre-writing activities.

In addition to the core program there will be workshops such as theatre, music, drawing, story telling, etc.

At Instituto Cervantes we believe in the importance of learning a second language at an early age as it benefits all pursuits involving intellectual development; provides a base for the learning and understanding of languages; develops awareness of other cultures; improves pronunciation; and helps in all areas of academic learning.

Mis primeras palabras en español will be located in a classroom specially accommodated for children of an early age; with appropriate furniture and decoration.

Classroom

In order to achieve a better integration of the child in the class dynamic, parents are not allowed in the classroom.

Discipline

Due to the nature of the program – which is aimed at students of your child’s age, and tailored to their needs and interests – we do not anticipate any discipline problems. However, should a serious problem arise, a member of staff from the administration office will call the relevant parent to remove their child from the class, so that the other children can make the most of their time at Instituto Cervantes.

Illness

Children that are sick should not be taken to class.

Snacks

Children are encouraged to bring a healthy snack and drink to take during the break. We are cautious of food allergies.

Attendance

It is very important that children are dropped-off and picked-up on time from the classroom; as the instructors are very busy, and the rooms used throughout the day. There will not be make-up classes.

Strollers

Strollers can be put on the third floor, in the corridor, between the two classroom areas.
Strollers can be put on the entrance
